Tennessee Total Annihilation

Off to Knoxville
This past weekend 3 of my roommates and I made the trip to Knoxville for the Georgia vs. Tennessee game. We were excited because we knew our defense is solid this year and UT's offense is lacking. We decided to stay at a Super 8 which was a surprisingly pleasant experience. Check-in was quick and easy, the room was quaint and had the essential amenities such as a 40" tv and a mini fridge, and the best part of the hotel was that we had a perfect view of a Taco Bell right outside our window. The Knoxville bar scene is nothing compared to Athens but they were lively for sure with live music in almost all of them. The Tennessee students varied in how they treated us. To our surprise the guys were nice and admitted that we had the better football accepting that we would most likely would (and did) beat them. The girls on the other hand were a whole different story. Not a lot of love coming from them with one girl coming up to us and saying "my mother told me if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all, so I'm going to keep my mouth shut."
 A Beatdown in Rocky Top
Neyland stadium is massive, the crowd attendance for the game was 102,000 people. Which means the stadium can hold about 10,000 more people than Sanford Stadium. The final score was 43-0 and we were celebrating the whole time.
Touchdown after touchdown, interception after interception, and the Volunteers were held to a total score of zero. The first time UT hasn't scored a point since 1996 and the biggest blow out in over a hundred years. Peyton Manning received an award at half time and it felt so good knowing that was the positive Tennessee fans had the whole entire game. I believe the picture does a wonderful job of capturing the frustration of all the home fans that day. We went out again that night to celebrate in the town our football team showed no mercy in. We spent the entirety of our night at a bar called Hanna's which had a stage on the second floor with a huge dance floor. When we got up there, a band was playing it and they were killing it. Playing covers of some popular 80s and 90s rock songs with a surprise Game of Thrones theme song cover. When the band got off the lights dimmed, the disco ball descended and a DJ pressed the play button. He played sweet mashups and remixes of top 40 electronic, pop and rap songs. Twas the perfect way to end a weekend that surpassed my expectations. Up next is Vanderbilt and my buddies and I are ready to conquer the city of Nashville.
