Nashvegas Baby!!

Up Next... Vanderbilt

Following the annihilation of Tennessee in Knoxville it was on to our next opponent the Commodores of Vanderbilt who reside in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee. We booked another Super 8 about miles from the heart of Nashville and off we went departing on Friday from Athens and arriving around 9 PM. We took an Uber into the city on Friday night and my oh my comparing Nashville to Knoxville is like comparing Chick-Fil-A to Hardee's. Nashville had everything, delicious food, tall buildings, live music, and a surprisingly diverse crowd. We spent all of our time on the Broadway Street strip because that seemed to be where all the action was happening. We spent majority of that time at this Bar/Restaurant called Acme Feed & Seed. A massive 4 story establishment that has a quaint restaurant on the first floor along with a stage at the front and bar along the back. When you went up the stairs you entered a lounge area with leather couches large TVs, more bars, and a sushi bar! The third floor was for private events so there was nothing to do on that floor BUT the fourth floor and final floor was breathtaking. An enormous rooftop area featuring a DJ and stunning views of the Cumberland River, Tennessee Titans Stadium, and all of downtown Nashville. While dancing, my friends and I could not stop looking over the balcony and taking in the views. After we enjoyed our time at Acme we went off on the strip and hopped in to a few different bars to enjoy the live music. There was a live band playing in EVERY single bar in Nashville it seemed like. And in many bars there was a band on each of the three floors playing. All of this we had to take in and it was only night one!

Football, a Stein, and a Turkey Leg

We slowly awoke on Saturday discovering that because there was a one hour time change in Nashville that the UGA vs. Vanderbilt game began at 11 AM. We originally had plans of tailgating for a little while then scalping tickets for the game but those plans went out the window as we all woke up throughout the game including one of my buddies who woke up during the fourth quarter! (HA!) Nevertheless, the Dawgs got the W and after hearing it was the weekend of Oktoberfest in Nashville there was no way we were going to miss that. We arrived and each purchased a large stein and filled them up with some fine German bier. They had all sorts of activities going on including a 30 foot long slip n' slide and live German bands playing tunes of their motherland. My highlight of the event was purchasing a giant turkey leg and walking around with my stein in one hand and turkey leg in the other hand dancing to Bavarian songs. When we were German'd out we went back to our hotel to rest for a bit before another night in the city of honky tonk. We began our night at Acme again because it is to this day a top 5 bar I have ever been to. We were more adventurous this time around and because we understood the layout of the strip now we wanted to explore all of the places we could. Learning that many bars had very different themed bands on different floors. After jamming all around the town we walked across to get the the Tennessee Titans Stadium. We snapped a few pictures then called it a night.
